At Distinctive Schools, we believe strongly in the power of student voice – insight shared directly from our students is invaluable to us. Our Learner Advisory embodies this principle - a dedicated time and space for students to be active partners in shaping their educational journey.
Our recent advisory brought together students from across Distinctive Schools for a day of meaningful connection and reflection. The event kicked off with an energetic networking session, allowing students to interact with peers from different Distinctive Schools.
A key focus of our day was diving deep into YouthTruth data, examining students' perspectives on Culture and Belonging. Students engaged in a powerful mapping exercise, visually charting a "day in the life" at their schools. This activity prompted deep reflection on daily experiences, challenges, and moments of joy.
The day ended with a sharing session where students summarized their day's "highs and lows" - insights that will be directly shared with school principals. By connecting students and capturing their authentic experiences, we're taking meaningful steps toward creating more supportive, inclusive school environments.
